Although he has been involved in various creations during his career, Tanvir Tareq has always been obsessed with music. Recently, he won the National Film Award for Best Composer for his 23 years of practice in music. Earlier, he received multiple awards including Citycell Channel I Music Award, Natyasabha Padak, Dhaliwood Award, BCRA, CJFB and Trab as the best music director, but the best recognition of his life came this year. With our entertainment correspondent  A Mizan, he talked about that feeling of joy and his future endeavours.

Firstly, Congratulations. One thing to note is that you are the first journalist to receive the National Film Award for Best Composer. Many have got it as lyricists.

No, I didn't know that. But some of my colleagues have said it. To be honest, this achievement means a lot to me and also honours the time of my struggles. After the announcement of such an award, many people want to hear about my struggle. I am giving interviews in local and foreign media outlets. When you get recognition, people want to know more about you and your struggles. This is a strange joy for me.

You received multiple recognitions in life. Which award made you happiest?

The common answer to this question may be the love of the audience. But I never wanted to do my work based on what the audience want. I’ve tried to tie a very quality audience to my basic tune. There are 27 albums in the market with my words and tunes. You will not get any flakiness in my music. There is a popular song in the market 'Babu Khaiso'. But I have no respect for this kind of disrespectful song. You will find views in these kinds of songs but you won’t earn people’s respect through it.

However, the day Channel I Music Awards jury honourable Sudhin Das called me and told, do not to leave music no matter what you do. You have a house of melodies inside.’ Or when the day Subir Nandi first called and said, Tanvir, I want to sing some of your sweet melodies. Forget what I sang before and give me a tune like yours.’ I think these are the biggest achievements of my life.

What is your work plans after receiving such an achievement?

New job offers have increased. But I’m denying new offers at the moment. A newcomer asked to sing with me. She also offered me a lot of money. I then asked her to sing two or three songs but I did not like her voice. The poor girl may be calling me arrogant. But I do not compromise with my music. Because my critics are sitting eagerly to know how my future works will span out. I don't want to make them happy just to make more money. However, I am singing for three new films. I am also doing music for a short film.

Well, does future plans change after receiving an award?

That may change a bit. But I'm the same as before. The audience's fascination has only increased.
