Bangladesh A suffered a four-wicket defeat against West Indies A in the first one-dayer at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Tuesday.

The host chased down the meager target of 80 runs with four wickets and 26.4 overs in hand. Top-scorer Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored 23 runs off 39 deliveries with three fours.

Bangladesh pacers Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Mukidul Islam scalped two wickets each, but that was not enough to stop the Caribbean side from chasing a paltry total.

Earlier, being invited to bat first the tourists were bundled out for just 80 in 23.2 overs.

Only three Bangladesh batters were able to cross double figures. Wicket keeper-batter Jaker Ali top-scored for the side, hitting 25 off 45 balls. Soumya Sarkar's 15 off 20 deliveries was the next best score.

West Indies pacer Justin Greaves was the pick of the bowling attack as he ended with figures of four for 25 in just seven overs. Pacers Anderson Phillip and Shermon Lewis took two wickets each.
