Wind power project equipment arrives at Chattogram Port

The first consignment of wind power project in Cox's Bazar including 900 tons of turbine blades has arrived at Chattogram port.

The shipment arrived on the Chinese government-owned vessel Xin Da Zhong on Friday afternoon.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruq confirmed this information.

According to the port sources, the first shipment of a huge amount of equipment including the giant fan of the turbine of the country's largest wind power project in Cox's Bazar has reached the Chattogram port.  The ship is currently at GCB-6 Jetty of Chattogram Port.  The vessel carrying the project machinery was towed to the jetty with the help of the port's powerful tug boats Kandari-8 and 12.

Secretary of Chattogram Port Authority, Md. Omar Faruq, said that the vessel named Xin Da Zhong of COSCO Shipping Line arrived at the GCB-6 jetty of the port with some necessary equipment including powerful turbine fans for the Cox's Bazar power project on Friday.  In addition to machinery, the vessel also carries dangerous cargo belonging to various state law enforcement agencies.

22 wind turbines are being constructed in Khoruskul, PMkhali, Choufaldandi and Varuakhali Unions of Sadar Upazila of Cox's Bazar.  This project will be the largest wind power project in the country when the construction of this project with a production capacity of 60 MW is completed using modern technology.  Earlier, small scale wind power projects were started in Chattogram's Sandwip and Cox's Bazar's Kutubdia upazilas.
