Will do everything to stop bloodshed, extortion in hill region: Home Minister

‘The Chattogram Hill Tracts is a potential and important area.  This time, we have paid special attention to this area. So the government will do everything it needs to do to stop terrorism, violence, bloodshed and extortion in the mountains. 

That is why we have decided to increase intelligence in the Chattogram Hill Tracts.  We will do everything we can to stop the bloodshed and extortion in the mountains.’

  This was stated by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal while addressing a gathering on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Armed Police Battalions Hill Regional Office and three Armed Police Battalion Offices in three hill districts at Sukhi Nilganj in Rangamati on Thursday.

 He said that in the light of the Hill Accords, this activity of the Armed Police has been started to maintain peace, law, and order in the hills.  The members of this battalion will take charge of the camps from which the army was withdrawn.

 The Minister said, "We will make the Chattogram Hill Tracts as a potential area." 

We will show the world that Bangladesh is moving forward, the people of Chattogram Hill Tracts are not lagging behind.

 Earlier, the Home Minister laid the foundation stone of DIG Armed Police Battalion Regional Office at Rangamati and three Armed Police Battalion Offices in three hill districts.

 Civil society representatives including IGP of Bangladesh Police, RAB Chief, 24 Infantry GOC, Divisional Commissioner, APBN Commander, DIG, Members of Parliament of three Hill Districts, Development Board Chairman, Zila Parishad Chairmen, Survival Officers of Administration and various levels of public representatives were present.
