Free wheelchairs have been distributed among the poor and physically challenged at Sarishabari in Jamalpur. The wheelchairs were distributed at the Upazila Parishad ground on Wednesday afternoon at the initiative of the Upazila Parishad.
Also present on the occasion were Upazila Parishad Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Gias Uddin Pathan, UNO Shihab Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faizul Wasima Nahat, Project Implementation Officer Humayun Karib, Municipal Awami League Finance Secretary Raju Ahmed.
At that time, Mohammad Abdur Rahim of Meiya Bagh Ashara village of Pingna Union and Chan Mia of Mahadan village of Mahadan Union were given wheelchairs.
Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Gias Uddin Pathan said people with disabilities are suffering in many ways. They are part of our family society. Every well-to-do person should stand by the helpless and disadvantaged people of the society.
