What does TIB want?

The people of Bangladesh have rejected the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who boycotted the January 7 national polls, through voting. People have joined the polls amid festivity despite arson terrorism unleased by BNP- Jamaat miscreants.

The train for the 12th parliamentary elections has already reached its destination. Many countries have already congratulated the newly elected Awami League government while heads of state and government of different countries continue to extend their warmest congratulations to Sheikh Hasina on her reappointment as Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the straight fourth term. As Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, elder daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed the government for the fourth consecutive term with a 37-member cabinet, all eyes are now fixed on the new government. But, we have noticed some organisations like the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) are trying to find out faults of the government before and after national election.

Now question arises about whether the TIB or CPD work only to look for others’ faults?  It is a matter of great regret that both TIB and CPD have been looking for the loopholes of the government over the last 15 years.

TIB in its latest report on Wednesday termed the country’s general election unfair and biased, saying the overall experience including gains and losses are ominous for the future of Bangladesh’s democracy and democratic election, which are contradictory to the spirit and dreams of the glorious liberation war and independence. We strongly condemn the TIB’s such fabricated, false and politically motivated report based on the so-called survey.

TIB deliberately published the

report in order to divert people’s

attention after the national election

We can definitely say the TIB deliberately published the report in order to divert people’s attention after the national election. Their statements are nothing but blatant lies.

The TIB report is flawed and completely politically motivated. It published the report to tarnish the image of the new government, Bangladesh and its people through blind criticism.

The report is only to create a political agenda for the opposition party. Since the TIB has brought allegations of irregularities in the polls, they must prove why the election was not free and inclusive.

We think TIB must provide detailed information in this regard. Preparing a study based on a so-called survey and some newspaper cuttings, cannot be a logical source of a study. So we easily say that the TIB’s statement is nothing but an outright lie. Therefore, all have raised a question over the TIB’s latest report whether it is out to make the peaceful election controversial like the BNP-Jamaat clique.

As they (BNP-Jamaat) has failed to foil the national polls, TIB has extended its all-out cooperation to the defeated forces and vested interest groups in order to create confusion among the people by any means just after the polls. BNP’s politics is only hatch conspiracy against the Awami League government.

It seems that the BNP in association with anti-liberation, defeated and communal forces has hired some national and international organisations and intellectuals at home and abroad to malign the government. They are now trying to mislead people through spreading false and fake information either through press conference or on social media even after the peaceful election.
