West Zone railway hits record in revenue earning

The authorities of West Zone railway in Rajshahi has surpassed all previous records of revenue earning during the June this year. 

Railway sources informed, such a record amount of revenue earning was possible due to import of Indian goods through the trains during last June. The earning of the month was Taka 11.5 crore( 115 million). 

Mihir Kanti Guha, General Manager of West Zone railway informed, during June goods in 103 rail-racks were imported from India through various frontier stations. 

As a result, there was a record amount of revenue earning this month since after independence.  According to railway sources, a goods train carrying 42-wagons is called a rack. 

In a month of 2017, the highest number of 93 racks of Indian goods had entered the country through west zone railway stations. The imported goods include stone(pebble), onion, garlic, maize and cement. Those 103 racks were carried through Rohanour, Darshana, Benapolem and Birol frontier stations of West zone railway. 

Mihir Kanti Guha further said, due to lockdown situation, import and export of goods from and to India have been reduced through road. 

As a result, goods are being carried through trains. He hoped, in July the revenue earning would also be satisfactory.
