The week-long cleanliness drive to prevent dengue disease in Jamalpur was inaugurated by raising the voice of 'keep your yard clean, everyone stay healthy'.
Deputy Commissioner Md spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting of the opening ceremony organised by Sambar UNICEF and local government department.
Jamalpur Local Government Deputy Director Sarkar Abdullah Al Mamun Babu presided over the meeting held at 11 am. Mayor Chanwar Hossain of Jamalpur Municipality, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pranoy Kanti Das, Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Anwar, Assistant Director of Jamalpur General Hospital Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Munmun Jahan Liza, Human Resource Development Director of Unyan Sangha, Journalist Jahangir spoke among others.
Salim, Halima Begum, Head Teacher of District School, Imam Mufti Zakir Hossain of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Model Mosque, Journalist Tanveer Hira and others. Ujjal Halder, Assistant Director of Local Government Department conducted the program. Representatives of government, private institutions, public representatives, imams, priests, teachers, journalists and more than hundred representatives participated in the event.
The speakers said that it will be difficult to prevent dengue if we do not rely only on the municipality, but work from each individual to family, society and the state.
However, to keep the city clean, the role of the municipal mayor and councilors is undeniable.
