The Netflix series Wednesday immediately became a sensation when it was released in November of 2022, thanks in large part to Jenna Ortega's iteration of Wednesday Addams. Although details are still scant concerning Season 2 of the series, here's everything we know so far.
While no release date was announced for Wednesday Season 2, production is going in full swing in Ireland as of 2024. If we are to gauge the shooting schedule of the first season, which took six months to film, it's expected that production will be wrapped up later in 2024.
But, post-production, including editing and visual effects, might push it to mid-2025. There are even reports that postulate it could be as late as 2026, given the extent of the post-production work needed .
The main cast returning for Season 2 includes Jenna Ortega playing the iconic Wednesday Addams, Emma Myers playing her werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair, and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Luis Guzmán as Gomez, members of the Addams family, among others like Isaac Ordonez playing Pugsley and Victor Dorobantu playing Thing.
Fan favourite characters are set to return, but a host of new characters will also be introduced, big names including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, and Thandiwe Newton joining in unspecified roles. Sadly, Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe in Season 1, won't be back after allegations against him
Plot Expectations.
The first season wrapped up with Wednesday conquering Marilyn Thornhill and Tyler Galpin, but both are there and an annoyance, most certainly Tyler will be back for revenge. While delving deeper into these plot points left hanging, Season 2 is supposed to expand the relationships Wednesday has with her family and friends at Nevermore Academy.
The showrunners have teased more screen time for the Addams family, especially the complicated dynamic between Wednesday and Morticia.Arguably, the most significant difference for Season 2 will be the absence of romance. During an interview, Jenna Ortega mentioned that the show is going to be more into horror, channeling its dark side.
To date, the shift has endeavored to study Wednesday's growth, whereby she learns how to handle friendships, coupled with the complexities of the supernatural world around her.
Tim Burton will again serve as an executive producer, and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are also returning to helm the project. Filming started this year, and Ortega says things are going "really, really well ".
Divided between the macabre and melodrama, Wednesday Season 2 surely promises to carry on with the quirky gothic charm of the first season, firming up with more horror, sense of family dynamics, and Wednesday's evolving relationships. Yet to materialize, these speculations build excitement for what promises to be another darkly delightful season.
