In the tragic incident in Pallabi, Dhaka, involving the rape and murder of seven-year-old Ramisa, a second-grade student, the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) expressed deep sorrow, anger, and concern, and demanded swift justice.
On Friday (May 21), WEAB President Nasrin Fatema Awal issued a statement expressing grief and condemnation.
In the statement, WEAB said that this brutal incident is not only the loss of a child’s life, but also exposes serious weaknesses in ensuring the safety and justice of children in Bangladesh. Such barbaric acts against innocent children are unacceptable in a civilized and humane society.
WEAB strongly urged the administration to ensure justice by identifying and punishing those responsible through a speedy trial. The organization also expressed deep sympathy to Ramisa’s grieving family.
WEAB further called on everyone to unite in building a safe society and state for women and children.
