We want to make come back: Tapu Barman

Bangladesh national football team reached home after humiliating 5-0 defeat in their away match in Kuwait at the hands of Palestine in the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.

The home match will take place on March 26 at Bashundhara Kings Arena. Bangladesh, who reached Dhaka at early hour on Saturday, began their practice session for the home match in afternoon on the day. 

Meanwhile, Palestine team also reached in Dhaka on Saturday at 9:30 am when they were on rest and had no practice session on the day.

Bangladesh team, despite demonstrating impressive performances from the early stage and halted the strong Palestine up to 40 minutes at away ground but could not keep the tempo after conceding the first goal on 42nd minute.

Defender Tapu Barman and midfielder Sohel Rana said on Saturday after their practice at the Bashundhara Kings Arena that they lost their moral after conceding the first goal despite playing almost evenly up to 40 minutes in Kuwait.

Bangladesh head coach Javier Cabrera also talked to the media on Saturday following their practice session when the Spanish said, “Actually our plans were not executed properly but our strategy was perfect.”

“They are stronger side than us and played well but up to 40 minutes we fought almost evenly. We had also some chances but could not utilize those. If the boys could utilize the chances came to their ways, the scenario could have been different.”

“We will try to get rid of the mistakes of the previous match,” said Javier Cabrera.

Tapu Barman, one of the central defenders, said that they would try heart and soul to bounce back at their home ground.

“We will try to make a comeback. At any cost we will have to win the home match and that is our main target. 

Yes, it will not possible to beat them by 5-0, but we will try our optimum level to win the match at least by 1-0 margin.”  

“We will have home advantage and obviously will try not to repeat our mistakes we did in the away match,” said Tapu. 

Midfielder Sohel Rana about their big margin defeat in the away match said, “Actually, we became morally down after conceding the first goal. I think our defenders did some mistakes. There is no way to make any blunder against the big teams. But we will try to win the match at our home venue,” said Sohel Rana.
