We don’t want to rely on relief: Mannan

Planning Minister MA Mannan distributed rice among more than 100 flood-affected families in Noagaon village of Joykals union in South Sunamganj upazila of Sunamganj on Thursday noon.

During the rice distribution ceremony, Planning Minister said, “Corona pandemic wreaking havoc all over the world now. This epidemic has also hit our country. Our government is working day and night for the people of the country. So that we can be saved from this pandemic.”

He added, “Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is by the side of the people. However, we don’t want to live by relying on relief, we want to live by working.” 

The Planning Minister further said, “Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has always been by the side of low-income people. All of us who work with the Hon'ble Prime Minister are always working for the welfare of the people of the country.

That is why relief is being given to the flood victims under the direction of Hon'ble Prime Minister. This year the water level in Haoranchal has been a little higher. That's why people are suffering a little more. We hope this trouble will go away in a few days.”

Regarding the corona epidemic, the planning minister said the corona epidemic in Bangladesh did not cause much damage compared to other countries. 

Because we have already been able to provide awareness and health care to the people of the country. Even then there was some damage. In the midst of this epidemic, sudden floods have occurred in the country. 

Eleven upazilas of Sunamganj district, including my constituency, have been severely damaged. Many houses have been flooded. 

South Sunamganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jebun Nahar Shammi, Officer-in-Charge of South Sunamganj Police Station Kazi Muktadir Hossain, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Ataur Rahman, Joykals Union Parishad Chairman Masuk Mia, Dargapasha Union Parishad Chairman Monir Uddin and others were present.
