The strong and stout voice that was strident against inequity, injustice and fascism has been muzzled forever. Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was that prominent voice of the July uprising and a participant in a democratic journey. The tragic demise of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi , a spokesperson of the Inquilab Moncho, is an irreparable loss to the nation. We express our profound sorrow over the premature death of Hadi.
Hadi was an undaunted and fearless voice and a courageous organizer of the July uprising. His uncompromising stand against injustice and oppression inspired democracy-loving people. The nation will remember the firmness, clarity and sense of responsibility with which he conveyed the message of the movement. His role in awakening the youth and shaping public opinion on human rights and justice will be remembered in history. His life of struggle and courage will continue to inspire future generations to stand valiantly against injustice. We pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extend heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
The assassination of Osman Hadi has sent shockwaves across the country. This was not an isolated act of violence, nor can it be dismissed as a random criminal incident. It is a warning- loud , deliberate and deeply unsettling. It confronts the grim reality that political violence is once again rearing its head at a decisive juncture. Certain quarters will continue their malicious efforts to silence the voices that speak against hegemony, but all of us must remain vigilant to foil their diabolical schemes.
Although this is time to remain calm and exercise restraint during a grave national crisis, we have seen a violent unrest. certain group of people indulged in arson attacks, inciting mob violence and vandalize properties and media offices creating a reign of terror. These violent and unruly acts are no doubt aimed at creating an atmosphere of instability to derail the forthcoming national election slated for February 12 next year.
Those who admired Hadi’s life know that his call was not to silence dissent by force. His legacy ,as recalled by many who stood with him, was rooted in patience, resolve and faith in the power of ideas. Ideologies must be confronted with ideologies –through argument and persuasion and not through fear or fire.
It is now the time for us to unite against any evil forces who are trying to take advantage of Hadi’s death in the transitional period of Bangladesh. We feel strongly concerned about the motive to create anarchy and instability in the country. Promises of swift justice for Hadi’s killing must be matched by visible action and by robust security that safeguards life and properties by the authorities concerned. And together, we all must uphold democracy that will never perish from the country.
