The main canal of Pabna Irrigation and Rural Development project is full of water hyacinths. The length of this irrigation canal is 42.28 km.
Every day thousands of locals use this water for daily purposes like taking bath, using for household tasks and cooking.
No concrete steps have been taken yet even after the locals informed to the Water Development Board officials.
Sources said, people from 2, 3 and 10 ward of Bera Municipality getting sick using this dirty confined water.
If the initiative is not taken soon to solve the problem, people will be affected by many diseases. Locals are seeking attention of the concerned authority to solve the problem.
The canal being the possession of WDB, Bera municipality can’t take any initiative.
