Md Abu Taher, Mayor of Lakshmipur municipality, inaugurated the project of water treatment plant worth Tk 26 crore at ward 2 of the district town on Wednesday.
A function was held on this occasion where among others AKM Uddin Tipo, sadar upzila chairman and district jubo league president, Abdur Rashid, executive engineer of local government of engineering department, Md Nasrullah, executive engineer of public health department, Abul Basar, executive engineer of municipality, Alauddin, municipality secretary, Kamaluddin Hawladar president of Lakshmipur Press Club, Saidul Islam Pabel, the secretary and so on spoke at the function. The function was conducted by assistant engineer Samsul Alam. On completion of this 4th project, one and a half lakh litres of pure drinking water can be extracted, and in addition, this drinking water can be supplied to two more thousand families.
Apart from these, it was informed to the function that 63 km long road, 7 slums in 7 wards were going to be developed under the UGIIP project which was going to be implemented at a cost of Tk.76 crores.
The municipal councilor, the woman councilor and other engineers including the people of different status of the area were present there.
