In one day, the water level rose by 33cm at Bhuapur in Tangail due to upstream water and heavy rain. Besides, the water in all the small and big rivers of the district is increasing.
Tangail District Water Development Board Deputy-Assistant Engineer Nurul Amin confirmed the matter.
District Water Development Board sources said the water level rose by 33cm at Porabari point of Jamuna river in 24 hours from 6:00am Monday to 6:00am Tuesday. The water was flowing under 1.5 cm of the danger level. Earlier, the water was flowing under 10.38 cm of danger level.
Tangail District Water Development Board Deputy-Assistant Engineer Nurul Amin said the water level of Jamuna River and other rivers of the district started decreasing two days ago. Heavy rain and water from upstream have caused increase of water level in all rivers of the water again. However, there is no possibility of huge flood, he added.
Meanwhile, river erosion was experienced in many places of Gabsara, Arjuna, Gobindasi and Nikrail unions of Bhuapur Upazila of the district. Several houses of Chituliapara, Matikata and Konabari areas went under water. Moreover, immature sesame of Char areas was damaged as the croplands went under water.
