Warning signal 3 at the Bay of Bengal seaport

According to weather forecasts, the local warning signal no. 3 has been issued in the seaports of the Bay of Bengal on Monday.

A light pressure has formed in the Bay of Bengal and as a result, there are a lot of changes in air pressure in and around the North Bay. Due to this, strong winds are likely blow over the seaports in the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The meteorological department informed that rainfall may increase further in the next three days.

Meteorologist Abul Kalam told Bangladesh Post, “A light pressure has formed in the North-West Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast and in the nearby West-Central Bay of Bengal. It may be more concentrated. Monsoon winds are quite active over Bangladesh and are strong in the North Bay.”

According to the Meteorological Department, some parts of Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusts with light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the next couple of days. There may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. During this time, day and night temperatures across the country may remain mostly unchanged.

Rainfall has increased between Sunday and Monday morning. There has been on and off rainfall in all the sections relieving city-dwellers from the scorching heat.

The highest rainfall during this time was in Comilla, 112 mm. Dhaka received 18 mm of rain in the early night hours of Monday. The highest temperature in the country on Sunday was 36.2 degrees Celsius in Tetulia.

According to the weather warning report, a light pressure has formed in the north-west Bay of Bengal near the coast of Odisha and in the nearby West-Central Bay of Bengal. As a result, there are a lot of changes in air pressure in and around the North Bay. Stormy winds can blow over the coastal areas of Bangladesh, North Bay of Bengal and seaports.

Due to this, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display local warning signal number 3.

Fishing boats and trawlers stationed in the North Bay have been asked to move closer to the coast and move cautiously until further notice.
