We are gravely concerned to the leaking of question paper of the recruitment test for primary school teachers. An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and two constables have been arrested in Rajshahi and Dinajpur on charges of helping examinees of the primary teacher recruitment examination to cheat.

The primary teacher recruitment exam was held on Friday. Before this exam, these policemen  allegedly made deals with 15 to 20 job aspirants, promising to help them pass the exam.

They provided the candidates with very small headphones, through which answers to the exam questions were supposed to be communicated from outside, according to media reports. There was a contract with the candidates for amount of graft ranging between Tk10-12 lakh each.

During the police operation, several stamps, a cheque for Tk10 lakh, and 14 secret devices were recovered. We think such unethical and unwarranted activities by policemen may damage the public job recruitment system as a whole. Therefore, the authorities concerned must take stern measures to check question paper leak in the recruitment test for public examinations.

Besides, they will also have to seal off all loopholes to stop question paper leakage. Alongside taking strong security measures, the government must develop some innovative systems including introduction of lottery to choose question paper sets and special security envelope so that the question papers are not leaked.

We hope, the government would be able to hold the public examination peacefully and stop question paper leak during the public examinations. Apart from these, cooperation from all is urgently needed to check question paper leak.

The government must protect our brilliant and qualified job seekers so that their dreams will not be shattered. We have noticed that though the law enforcers detained many people in connection with the question leaks in government job recruitment tests and other public examinations, they could not track down the main culprits.

As a result, the qualified and talented youths having higher educational qualifications from different prestigious universities are failing to get job while a section of unskilled and dishonest people are getting employed in exchange of huge amount of bribe.

When these unskilled and dishonest people will be employed in government jobs, it is very likely they will also be involved in corruption, misappropriation of money and misuse of power instead of providing services to people. Therefore, the authorities concerned must take stern measures to check question paper leak in the government job recruitment process.
