Tanvir Tareq is busy with writing and performing songs throughout the year, besides doing regular music. He received the Channel-i Music Award for Best Music Director in recognition of his work. In other instances too he has received prestigious awards. A new book has been published titled ‘Tomar Kotha Bolite Byakul’ at this year’s Ekushey Book Fair. S A Quaderi  talks to him about songs, performances and writing.

How are you? What are you busy with right now?

I am busy all throughout the day. And February is naturally going great for me with the Book Fair going on and some works related Valentine’s Day.

Let’s talk about the book that has been published this year.

This is my 9th book that has been published. This is the 4th story book written by me. There are 15 stories including short and big ones. Inside it is a series of screenplays, which will be released as dramas or web series. Many of the stories of this book have been published in various literature magazines. Syed Manzoorul Islam sir and many other intellectual personalities have read it and appreciated the book greatly and gave me inspiration. These inspirations are one of the many rewards of my authorial life.

How busy are your with music?

The music is like a part of me. Music and writing continues with me all day long like any regular activity similar to having a meal. I’m working on two movie songs. And I am preparing to publish the album which I have been working for a long time about the late Subir Nandi’s eight iconic songs. I also finished an album of ten songs by newcomer singer Rakesh. It will be published from Impress Audio. Beyond that, some copyright free instrumental work is underway that I will publish on my own YouTube channel.

Some of your stories are getting visualized. Are you opposed to this visualization of literature?

No, I’m not opposed. However, it is also logical that presenting something as a drama or film means stopping the thought process that would be invoked by literature. But this branding is also needed. Bibhuti, Sunil, Humayun Ahmed’s literature has expanded to many more readers through films. They have become enchanted. To deny it is folly. The scene of literature is much like the trailer of the author’s literary works. Seeing that, readers rush to get captivated in the author’s other writings. But to get the full taste of literature, there is no option but reading read it.
