The National Zoo reopened yesterday (Friday) after being closed for almost 5 months due to the second wave of Covid-19.
From Friday morning the National Zoo in the Mirpur area of the capital was abuzz with visitors crowding the dens of various animals after many months.
The national zoo has been reopened after 4 months and 25 days under government instructions. The zoo will remain open from 9 am to 6 pm on all days of the week except Sunday. The zoo will also be open on the first Sunday of every month on the occasion of Mujib centenary.
Special preparations have been undertaken at the National Zoo to avoid endangering the animals. This included that the visitors need to stand in a red circle three feet away from the entrance gate to collect tickets.
Everyone has to enter wearing a mask and walk around following strict hygiene rules and health protocols while maintaining social distance inside.
The director of the zoo further said that hand sanitizers, soap and water have been provided at 12 places for the visitors at different places of the zoo. Digital displays are used to present messages regarding maintaining hygiene.
Multiple activities of the zoo have been resumed such as elephant football shown at the zoo for visitors.
