A human chain and protest program was held in Satkhira on Thursday in protest of the attempt to silence the media and media workers and violence against journalists across the country.
The human chain program was organized by Satkhira Press Club at Shaheed SM Alauddin Chattar in Satkhira’s New Market area.
Demanding the unconditional release of journalist Shafiqul Islam Kajal, the speakers said that efforts were being made to silence the media and media workers across the country.
Journalists are being harassed and arrested under the Digital Security Act. Which is an obstacle to independent media. The speakers strongly protested that.
Former president of Satkhira Press Club Abdul Kalam Azad, torch editor of Daily Dakkhin Er Moshal Ashek-e-Elahi, M Kamruzzaman of ATN Bangla, Sharifullah Abid of BD News, Abul Kashem of Independent TV and others were present at the time.
