A village doctor died of corona-like symptoms while in home quarantine at Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali on Saturday night.
The 60-year-old man breathed his last in Gora Amkhola Para of Kuakata area around 7:00pm, said Kalapara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Chinmoy Hawladar.
He had been in home quarantine for the last 10 days. The health officials collected samples of the deceased for coronavirus testing before his funeral was completed on the same night.
The man returned from Mathbaria of Pirojpur district 10 days back, and he was asked to remain quarantined at home, under the supervision of Ansar Uddin Mollah, local union parishad chairman, said the official.
The patient took treatment at the home as he was suffering from fever and cough, said the doctor.
At least 40 houses were declared under lockdown in the area following the death, the health official added.
