A month-long 'Victory Fair of the Liberation War' has started at the Outer Stadium adjacent to the MA Aziz Stadium in the city under the slogan 'Victory of the Liberation War is the pride of brave Bengalis'.  Traders from far flung parts of the country, including Dhaka, have set up stalls at the Outer Stadium.

Winter cakes, pickles, wrappers, pots and pans, household utensils, shawls, blazers, jewelry shops are sitting in the fair. Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the fair at Chittagong City Corporation on Wednesday afternoon.

He said Chittagong has always been a leader in all fields.  Seeing the admirable role of Chittagong in the anti-British caliphate and non-cooperation movement, Mahatma Gandhi called it 'Chittagong to the Four'. Chittagong revolt led by Master Da Surja Sen set an example of disobedience to the martial law of the dictator Ayub. On the other hand, Bangabandhu's 6-point first official announcement was made from Chittagong and even the first declaration of the great war of liberation was made on behalf of Bangabandhu by the late MA Hannan Kalurghat from Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.

Not only that, the first victory fair was started from Chittagong under the leadership of public leader ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.  Later this victory fair was held in every district and city of the country.  Eimela is now becoming an inspiration and celebration for the new generation all over Bangladesh.

Vijay Mela Parishad Secretary General Mohammad Yunus presided over the function.  Nagar Mahila Awami League President Hasina Mohiuddin was the special guest on the occasion.  Freedom fighters Badiul Alam, Amal Mitra, Mohiuddin Rashed, Pantu Lal Saha, Enamul Haque, Awami League leader Advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Simul Chowdhury, Chandan Dhar, Syed Mahmudul Haque, CCC reserved councilor Nilu Nag, Anjuman Ara spoke.

The CCC Mayor said that in the 50 years of independence, Bangladesh has achieved remarkable achievements in the field of socio-economic development.  Due to the foresight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh today has become a role model of development in the international arena.  It is because of his leadership that we have been able to deal with the epidemic.

He urged the people to be aware of the new variant of Corona and follow the rules of the government and participate in the fair.
