Victory Day celebrated in Manikganj

The 51 th Victory Day was celebrated in different part of Manikganj district with much enthusiasm and fresh pledge to uphold the spirit ofthe hard-earned independence and democracy and eliminate the anti-liberation forces. The day began with 31gun salutes at Shaheed Tapan-Miraz Stadium at 6.30 am on December 16.

With the rise of the sun, streams of people irrespective of age and gender thronged the town streets leading to the central Shaheed Minar in Manikganj town. At 7.01 am, Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Mohammed Abdul Latif, Police Super Golam Azazd Khan, Mayor of Manikganj Municipality Ramjan Ali, Manikganj district unit of Bangladesh Muktijuddha Sangsad, Freedom Fighters Association, Sector Commander’s Forum Mutijuddha-71.

Bangladesh AL, lead by President Gulam Mohiuddin, its Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Distict Bar Association, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesh Samaj Tantrik Dal (JSD), Gano Forum, Jatyo Party, Manikganj Press Club, Bangladesh Sangbadik Somitty, Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Government Devendro Collage, Government Mohila Collage, other political parties, socio-cultural organisatons, educational institutions placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar showing respects to the heroes of the liberation war.

The national flag was hoisted formally by DC Mohammed Abdul Latif at 9.00 am. After hoisting of the national flag, a colorful march past of Police, Ansar, VDP, BNCC, Mukul Fouj, youth organisations and different educational institutions took place at the Shaheed Tapan-Miraz Stadium. The deputy commissioner Mohammed Abdul Latif and Police Super Golam Azazd Khan took the salute.

 District and Up-zila Administration, Different political, socio-cultural and professional organisations have chalked out their respective multifarious programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.

The other programmes included hoisting of national flags atop all public and private buildings, bijoy rally, discussion meetings. Marking the day, special diets were served among the inmates of hospitals, jail, child homes and orphanages. The national flag washoisted atop all government, semi-government, autonomous, private offices and other important establishments. Special prayers offered at mosques, temples, and other places of worships seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress of the country.

 Over one hundreds family members of Martyrs, wended freedom fighters and freedom fighters were honored by the district administration. Later, district shilpokola academy organised another discussion meeting, cultural function and prize distribution to the competition winners.

The Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Mohammed Abdul Latif distributed prizes among the winners of rendering song, acting, dancing, and reciting poem and art competition, jointly organized by the district Shishu Academy and Shilpa Kola Academy.
