Victory Day has been celebrated at Tangail district through various programmes arranged by Tangail district administration along with the upazila administration in the district. As soon as the sun rose on Thursday, programmes began with 50 times of artillery fire at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises.
Tangail Deputy Commissioner Md Ataul Gani on behalf of the district administration paid homage to the martyrs.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser on behalf of the district police, Civil Surgeon Abul Fazl Md Sahabuddin Khanon behalf of the health department, Tangail Municipality Mayor SM Sirajul Haque Alamgir, Tangail Sadar Upazila Chairman Shahjahan Anshari, Tangail Sadar UNO Ranuara Khatun paid their respects to the martyrs. Later, a wreath was laid at the Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park.
The national flag was officially hoisted at Tangail Stadium at 9 am on the initiative of the district administration. During the programmes, a colorful parade was held with the students of different schools, colleges and madrasas of the district.
Other activities of the day included sports competitions, special prayers in mosques and temples, prisons, hospitals, serving quality food in orphanages, screening of films based on the Liberation War, discussion meetings, cultural programmes and many more.
