Veterinary surgeon posts are vacant in 5 Upazilas of Kishoreganj. Farmers are suffering due to lack of veterinary surgeons.
According to District Livestock Resources and Veterinary Hospital sources, the post of Veterinary Surgeon is vacant in Pakundia, Katiadi, Karimganj, Tarail, Kuliarchar Upazila Animal Resources Department and Veterinary Hospital. All other Upazilas have veterinary surgeons. The veterinary surgeon of Itna Upazila Livestock Resources Department and Veterinary Hospital was in foundation training for the last 6 months. He joined the workplace on Tuesday (August 23) after training.
In Pakundia, Katiadi, Karimganj, Tarail, Kuliarchar Livestock Resource Department and veterinary hospital, farmers are waiting for hours with their sick cows and goats for treatment. There is no doctor. Research shows that veterinary surgeons often rush to cow, goat, duck and chicken farms to provide medical care. Mainly due to shortage of manpower, the necessary medical services of cows and goats are being disrupted. And the farmers are forced to spend extra money to see the rural doctors. According to several sources, the crisis of veterinary surgeons and the syndicate of rural doctors have taken hostage the medical sector of cows, goats, ducks and chickens. This powerful syndicate is running on commission basis. Sources also said that it is necessary to increase the surveillance to get out of the hostage situation.
District Livestock Resources Officer Dr Nazrul Islam said, medical services are not interrupted in this district. Our Upazila Livestock Resource Officers provide round-the-clock treatment. We have written to the ministry to fill the vacant post of Veterinary Surgeon. Medical services will be more dynamic if vacant posts are filled.
