After being in power for more than a decade, the government has turned Chattogram into a modern City. Many development projects have been implemented and many are on card or nearing completion in Chattogram.
Construction of 684 flats in 20-storey 9 residential buildings for government officials in Chattogram CGS Colony under Public Works Department (PWD) has almost been completed in the last financial year.
About 46 crore 88 lakh taka have been spent on it. 684 government officials-employee families can live in these modern flats in Chattogram. As a result, the housing problem of government officials and employees will be greatly reduced, people concerned with the project said.
Besides, 89 percent progress of the Chattogram Muslim Institute Cultural Complex has been completed. 28 crores 14 lakh taka have been allocated for this project. Institute of Marine Technology is being established for the first time in Chattogram. It is being constructed on the banks of the Karnaphuli river adjacent to the Kalpolok residence of Bakalia in the city.
Land acquisition has already been completed. The Department of Housing and Public Works is starting construction of buildings on the acquired land.
