The family drama film Utshob is drawing packed audiences at Star Cineplex, prompting the popular multiplex chain to increase the number of daily showtimes. Starring some of the biggest names in the industry, including Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Aupee Karim, the film has quickly turned into a crowd favorite since its release.

Director Tanim Noor confirmed in a press release that Utshob had 9 screenings daily across all Star Cineplex branches in its first week. Due to overwhelming demand and long queues for tickets, the number of daily shows was increased to 13 in its second week.

The film is also running at Blockbuster Cinemas in the capital and Lion Cinemas in Keraniganj. Noor mentioned that many single-screen exhibitors outside Dhaka have expressed interest in screening Utshob, with discussions currently ongoing.

A key factor behind the film’s popularity is its nostalgic appeal. The teaser and trailer include homages to classic Bangladeshi television and cinema from the 1990s, with one standout moment featuring Chanchal Chowdhury quoting a famous line from the popular TV drama Aj Robibar. Director Tanim Noor hinted that viewers will find several such nostalgic surprises throughout the film.

With its tagline, ‘Statutory Warning: Not to be watched without family,’ Utshob is being celebrated as a wholesome family entertainer. The star-studded cast also includes Zahid Hasan, Afsana Mimi, Tariq Anam Khan, Azad Abul Kalam, Intekhab Dinar, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Soumya Jyoti, and Sadia Ayman.

As excitement grows, audiences continue to flock to cinemas, eager to enjoy a film that blends humor, emotion, and nostalgia — marking Utshob as one of this season’s most talked-about releases.
