In addition to sex pheromone traps and poison dams, the use of perching methods has increased widely in Kishoreganj to control the harmful insects of cropland. As a result, the use of harmful pesticides for the soil and health of animals is decreasing day by day.

After planting paddy saplings in the field, various insects including, Mazra insect, Leaf wrap insect, Rice Case Worm insect, shrub cut ladle insect attack. These insects are the favorite food of birds. Due to the use of the perching method, the birds eat the insects. Rice is allowed to reach the tree trunks or scissors 15-20 feet away.

Soon after these stalks or palea, the variety of birds is eating insects in the field. Thus, easily suppressing pesticides is a harmful insect for crops.

The eco-friendly method of insect repression is called Perching. From the word perch is the origin of the name perching. This method is effective at 75-80% in insect control. Because of this, the cost of cultivators has been reduced considerably by reducing pesticide use. The number of birds in the field has also increased significantly since the starting of this method.

According to the District Agriculture Extension Department, regular operations against unregistered pesticides are underway. At the same time, farmers are being encouraged to raise awareness about the harmful aspects of pesticides and use of affordable and environmentally friendly art techniques. Farmers are advised to use perching method to control insects. In this method, tree branches or bamboo scissors are planted in the paddy fields.

Then the beneficial birds sit on the branches of the tree only to repel the harmful insects of the paddy tree. As a result, the insect represses the cropland without any cost and also protects against the cost and loss of pesticides. On the other hand, when you use a tree to create a parchment, the bacteria in the body and roots of the plant produce nitrogen from nature. As a result, the use of nitrogen and urea fertilizers can be reduced in the soil.

Abu Bakar Siddique, a farmer of Mohinanda village under Sadar Upazila, said he had planted boro on two acres of land. Due to the use of parchment method in the land, it is saving money and environmentally friendly insects.

Farmer Rahman Mia of Khama village under Pakundia upazila said that, after planting the seedlings in paddy land at the suggestion of a local agricultural officer. Occasionally they have successfully repaired insects by making a parchment to reach the branches of the tree. This year, it has also reduced the use of pesticides. He is hopeful that there will be better crops in the land than ever before.

According to the District Agriculture Extension Department Deputy Director Md. Saiful Alam, the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the land is impairing the quality and properties of the soil. The acidity of the soil is deteriorating, water capacity is declining and the bacterial function is being disrupted.

The production capacity of the soil is decreasing day by day. For this reason, farmers are advised to use organic and animal manure. In addition, farmers are benefiting financially by suppressing harmful insects at no cost. Therefore, farmers are being very motivated to use this method.
