Use of modern technology to boost up agro production stressed

A training workshop on the use of modern agriculture technology was held on Tuesday in the training hall of the Khulna Agriculture Extension Department. The regional office of agriculture information service organised the workshop. 

Speakers of the workshop emphasised on the use of new technology to boost up agro production in this coastal area. 

About thirty journalists of various print and electronic media of Khulna region participated in the workshop.

Prof Dr. Sardar Sadrul Islam, head of aggrotech discipline of Khulna University, spoke at the function as chief guest 

In his speech, he said that Khulna region was a coastal area. The agricultural environment of this area is different from other areas. ‘Various research works are carried out at governmental and nongovernmental university levels as to see how the production can be promoted in this coastal areas by using new technology,’ he added. 

He further said that if media circulated the success of the new technology, it would be easier to extend this technology to the cultivators. As a result, self-sufficiency of food will be achieved and foreign currency will be earned through export of food.

Mohan Kumar Ghose, Deputy Director of Khulna regional office of Agriculture Extension Department, Khondokar Muazzem Hossain, Deputy Director of Daulatpur Horticulture Centre, and Mukul Hossain Minto, BTV Khulna representative, were  special guests in the  workshop with Pankaj Kanti Mojumdar in the chair. 

Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim, chief Scientific Officer of Satkhira Rice Research Institute, presented articles on different species of rice. Power point on e-agriculture was presented  by Mosadek Hossain, the agriculture officer of Dumoria upazila. And  SM Ahsan Habib  conduced the workshop.
