USA Fulbright Fellowship opens for Bangladeshi teachers

The American Center Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TAE) program, hosted by the US Embassy in Dhaka, is inviting applications from Bangladeshi secondary school teachers for a prestigious six-week fellowship. Scheduled for either January or September 2025, this exchange initiative aims to empower educators with enhanced subject-specific knowledge, refined teaching skills, and a deeper understanding of the United States educational landscape.

Open until March 30, 2025, the fellowship targets current secondary school teachers who possess a bachelor's degree and boast a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Proficiency in English is paramount, as candidates must engage in graduate-level coursework and express themselves effectively in both professional and university settings. Additionally, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is required, ensuring participants can effectively navigate modern teaching tools.

Financial support provided by the fellowship encompasses various aspects, including assistance with J-1 visas, round-trip airfare to the US, accommodation, insurance coverage, and a professional development allowance. The comprehensive package aims to alleviate financial barriers and enable participants to fully immerse themselves in the program.

To apply, interested teachers must complete an online application form and provide supporting documents, including a photocopy of their passport and institutional transcripts. Furthermore, institutional support in the form of completed Institutional Support and Reference Forms (ISRF) and Leave Authorization Forms (LAF) are essential components of the application process.

It's crucial to note that certain individuals are ineligible for the fellowship, including officials of the Ministry of Education, education administrators, university teachers, and private tutors. This ensures that the program remains focused on the development of secondary school educators.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo an English proficiency test, either TOEFL or IELTS, with a minimum score requirement of 6.0. Successful applicants will proceed to an interview conducted in English.

Upon selection, participants can expect an enriching experience comprising intensive coursework, teaching methodology training, and a two-week internship at a secondary school in the US. The fellowship culminates in a final seminar and the opportunity to apply for additional grants to further professional development.
