US envoy buys 30 kg Sandesh from Gopalganj

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller has purchased 30 kilograms of Sandesh from a traditional sweetmeat shop named Dutta Mistanna Bhandar in Gopalgonj. He bought the sweet while returning to Dhaka from Gopalganj on Friday morning. Earlier, Miller along with his wife reached there in the morning and tested Rasogolla and Sandesh of the shop.

Babul Dutta, owner of the Dutta Mistanna Bhandar, said that he became surprised to see the US ambassador and his wife at his shop. “Miller has talked with us and we have taken some photos with him,” an employee of the shop said. Senio officials of local administration and police were present during the visit. On Thursday, the US ambassador paid respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.

“I feel proud to be here for the first time to pay respect to the Father of the Nation,” said Miller while talking to reporters after paying homage to Bangabandhu. Later, Miller left the place for Madaripur to visit Baniarchar Church in Muksudpur Upazila.
