The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has decided to conduct activities and campaigns on an urgent basis to prevent dengue along with the rise of corona infection in the port city.
A six-member committee headed by the panel mayor has started work to implement the necessary monitoring, supervision and action plan from Tuesday.
When contacted, M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Mayor and freedom fighter of Chittagong, told Bangladesh Post that the spread of dengue in Chattogram is not as evident as in Dhaka and the situation is still under control.
“All preparations have been made to keep the manpower of the clean department and health department of Corporation active to prevent the spread of dengue”, he added.
According to Chittagong City Corporation source, all measures have been taken to keep the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes repellent and to keep drains and reservoirs free of waste.
In this regard, the councilors have been given the responsibility of supervision and monitoring in their respective wards.
Free medical services are underway in the 50-bed isolation of Corporation to deal with Covid-19. There are 35 patients admitted. All types of medical services including ambulance service, provision of oxygen cylinders have been prepared for the transportation of patients.
So far, 4 lakh doses of vaccine have been given in the city under the management of Corporation, which is very satisfactory. Vaccination activities will be made more dynamic in the future.
Contacted, Khaled Mahmood, Acting Chief Executive Officer and secretary of CCC, told Bangladesh Post that all preparations have been completed. I hope the city dwellers will get all kinds of benefits.
