Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) held a special screening of a video documentary in observance of the July Mass Uprising of 2024, with university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam calling for collective efforts to uphold the spirit of the revolution.
The screening took place at Shaheed Dr. Milon Hall on the university campus, marking BMU’s tribute to the historic student-led uprising that sparked nationwide resistance.
In his speech, Dr. Shahinul Alam said, “The July Revolution is not just a political moment; it’s a deep emotion. This revolution united people from every walk of life. The victory was not just over injustice—it was a step towards freeing the nation from fascism.”
He noted that the July Revolution will inspire global research in political science for years to come, and its ideals must be preserved in unity for the movement to retain true meaning.
Associate Professor Dr. Shakhawat Hossain Sayantha, Dean of the Dental Faculty, elaborated on the significance of the video documentary, which revisits the sacrifices and spirit of the 2024 uprising.
The programme was attended by BMU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-VC (Research & Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahrin Akhter, Dean of Surgery Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, and Proctor Associate Professor Dr. Sheikh Farhad.
Teachers, doctors, nurses, students, and staff were also present, reflecting BMU’s commitment to honouring the legacy of the July movement through education and remembrance.
