Upazila Women Vice Chairmen Assoc places 8-point demand

Bangladesh Upazila Women Vice-Chairmen Association formed a human chain with 8-point demand for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).

They made the demands in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday. Bhaluka Upazila Parishad vice chairman Selina Rashid presided over the human chain.

Selina Rashid, in her speech said that Bangladesh is moving towards a developed country through the implementation of SDG. Upazila women vice chairmen have been elected with the aim of active participation in the development and empowerment of women in the country. However the reality is that women vice chairmen have no role in the developmental activities of the Upazila.

She made 8-point demands including empowerment of women and ensuring representation of women at all levelsto implement SDG, implementation of literacy power in the administrative and development activities of women vice-chairmen of the UpazilaParishad and implementation of 25 percent of the development budget of the Upazila Parishad through women vice chairmen.

Mst Laila Banu, vice-chairman of Dinajpur Chirirbandar Upazila vParishad, Ritu Akter, vice-chairman of Debiganj Upazila Parishad of Panchagarh and Rokeya Parveen Lucky, vice-chairman of Phulpur Upazila Parishad of Mymensingh also spoke during this time, along with others.
