A man was stabbed to death by miscreants at Doulatpur upazila in Kushtia on Thursday (March 16).
The deceased was identified Kajal Hossain, member of Ward No. 7 of Doulatpur Sadar Union Parishad and son of Sunnat.
Mojibor Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Doulatpur Police Station confirmed the matter.
The OC said Kajal had an enmity with some people of Sardarpara over the election and establishing supremacy in the area.
However, miscreants attacked Kajal while he was passing the area around 6:00 pm and stabbed him indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured, he said.
Later, the UP member was taken to Kushtia General Hospital where succumbed to his injuries around 5 am on Thursday, the OC said.
Police are investigating the incident, the official added.
