Monohorpur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and also former Awami League President of Monohorpur union Sohrab Hossain Khan was stabbed by miscreants in Shimultola Alar Mor area of the union under Jibannagar Upazila on Friday.
On information, Additional Police Superintendent (Crime and Ops) Nazim Uddin Al Azad visited the scene.
Local sources said Monohorpur UP Chairman Sohrab Hossain Khan was attacked by the miscreants and injured him at 7:45pm on the day in the area when he was going to his house from Alar Mor riding on a motorcycle. Two masked miscreants riding on another motorcycle stabbed him from back side and fled the scene. Hearing the scream of the chairman, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured UP chairman. He was taken to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Jashore Medical College Hospital for better treatment. However, he is out of danger, doctor said.
Officer-in-Charge of Jibannagar Police Station SM Jabid Hasan said Jibannagar Thana police rushed to the spot where Monohorpur UP Chairman Sohrab Hossain Khan was attacked. The process to identify and detain the attackers has been started.
