UP chairman fired for irregularities

Imdadur Rahman Mukul, chairman of Gajainainpur Union Parishad No. 11 in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj, has been sacked on charges of irregularities and embezzlement in the rice distribution list of the Prime Minister's humanitarian and food-friendly programs.

A separate notification has been issued by the Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Tuesday.

The notification said that in preparing the list of the extremely poor of the food-friendly program, it was alleged that the list was prepared by the dealer in a very irregular manner, which included names of deceased individuals and the name of the same person were included more than once and the allotted rice was not distributed among the right people. 

Imdadur Rahman Mukul, chairman of Gajainainpur Union Parishad No. 11 of Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj district and president of the upazila Awami League, has been suspended for this reason. 

Imdadur Rahman Mukul, the temporarily sacked chairman, has been asked to send a reply to the local government department through the concerned deputy commissioner within 10 working days of receipt of the letter.

It is to be noted that in Gajainainpur Union of Nabiganj, almost all the top media of the country spread the news about the irregularities in the list of food-friendly programs. 

Later, a three-member investigation committee was formed following the decision of the monthly meeting of Nabiganj Upazila Food Friendly Committee. After a long investigation, the remaining investigation report was submitted to the concerned department.
