It was just a dream for the poor, disadvantaged and illiterate family members of day labourer couple Razib Hossain and Reshma Khatun to be able to arrange for the costly surgery of their five-year old daughter Rabeya Khatun.
The poor family lives in Garabaria village in bordering Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district.But their dream is going to turn into reality now, as Moheshpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saswati Shil had handed over a cash aid to them for the treatment of their ailing daughter. The girl, born without an anus canal is expected to go under surgery within a few days. Razib Hossain and Reshma Khatun said their eldest child Rabeya was born without anus canal five years back. Since then they have been arranging alternative system for her daily defecating activities with a leak on her belly. As the matter was informed to the UNO by a local, she extended her hands towards the family for Rabeya’s surgery.
UNO Saswati Seal when contacted said the hapless family members could not manage money for their first child in last five years. She had informed the matter to the chairmen of all union parishads and they had come up with the burning issue of the minor girl child.
She along with upazila social service officer Julfiqar Ali arrived in the house of Rabeya Khatun and handed over the money for an amount of Taka 40 thousand to the guardian of the family Zinarul Islam for the surgery of the girl.
UNO said it was a human call initiative from her corner when an under privileged family was suffering for a long for want of money for their child in remote village for couple of years.
