Universities’ combined admission tests to brighten UGC’s image: Professor Shahidullah

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah said if public university authorities introduce a uniform entrance test for admission, it would brighten up image of UGC.

“If the universities introduce combined admission tests and the vice-chancellors and others concerned come forward to stop the evening course it will bring a qualitative change and uphold the teachers’ image,” he told vice-chancellors of country’s Engineering and Technology universities at a seminar held in the capital on Monday.

He said the whole nation is keen to holding the combined entrance examinations to all public universities as it has now become the demand of the time.

The UGC chief also urged the VCs to provide all-out cooperation to make the programme a success as the mass people have the expectation in this regard.

“If the UGC can introduce the combine admission tests system successfully, it will remove the untold sufferings to the admission-seekers as well as the parents or guardians,” he hoped.

UGC members Dr Dil Afroz, Professor Dr Md Sazzad Hossain and Professor Dr M Alamgir, Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) VC Professor Dr Mohammad Rafikul Alam, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) VC Professor Rafiqul Islam Sheikh and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) VC (acting) Professor Dr Mohiuddin Ahmmed, among others, were present.
