Abdul Rehman, the veteran domestic coach, has been named interim head coach of Pakistan men's team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, former pacer Umar Gul has been appointed as the bowling coach for the series, PCB chair Najam Sethi announced on Twitter on Tuesday.

Mohammad Yousuf, who was earlier announced as the interim head coach for the series, will continue serving as the batting coach. Contradicting the earlier announcement, the PCB has clarified that it was an error on their part.

Pakistan have been without a head coach since Saqlain Mushtaq's contract expired in December last year. There was an attempt made to rope in Mickey Arthur, who has previously served as the head coach during Sethi's previous stint as the PCB chairperson. However, due to his commitment with English County Derbyshire, he was unavailable for a full-time role. PCB is yet to clarify the exact nature of the role he is playing with the Pakistan men's team.

Cliffe Deacon and Drikus Saaiman have retained their contracts as physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach. Pakistan will be without several of their top players for the Afghnaistan series, which was set to begin on March 24 in Sharjah.
