UK Navy warship ‘HMS Tamar’ arrives at Cgt Port

UK Royal Navy warship 'HMS Tamar' arrived in Chattogram port jetty on Sunday on a 7-day greetings tour visit. At this time, well-equipped navy band saluted the ship by playing traditional music.  

Commander Chattogram Naval Region Chief Staff Officer Captain M Faizul Haque welcomed the captain of the ship. The ship will leave Bangladesh on January 22 after a 7-day tour visit.

Defense attache of the United Kingdom posted in Bangladesh along with senior officers of the navy were present at the time.  A total of 59 members, including 16 officers, are participating in the greetings tour visit, led by the ship's captain, Commander Elliott-Smith Teilo.

During his stay in Bangladesh, the captain of the visiting ship will have a courtesy call on the Commander Chattogram Naval Region, Commander BN Fleet and senior UK representatives posted in Bangladesh including the Chattogram Port Chairman. 

Besides, the officers and sailors of the ship will visit Bangladesh Naval Academy, Banauja Nirbhik, School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics (SMWT), BN Ashar Alo School established for children with special needs and various places of interest in Chittagong.

Earlier, when the ship reached the waters of Bangladesh, they were welcomed by Bangladesh Navy ship Omar Farooq.  This goodwill visit of the ship is expected to play an important role in strengthening the friendly relations between Bangladesh and UK.
