Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman (Additional Duty) and Member Prof Dr Muhammad Alamgir said UGC is working to improve the transparency, accountability and quality of education in the universities of the country.
He also said that for this reason, UGC advises every university to take effective steps to improve their quality in the prescribed indicators. More realistic action plan needs to adopt to improve the quality of education in universities under UGC's APA or Annual Performance Agreement with public universities.
Professor Dr Muhammad Alamgir came up with the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of a workshop organized by University Grants Commission (UGC) on monitoring and evidence management of APA activities of public universities for the fiscal year 2023-24 and draft action plan, review and feedback for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday
The workshop was held at the conference room of the CU Vice-Chancellor's Office in Chattogram.
Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abu Taher spoke at the programme as special guest. CU Pro VCs and UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman also spoke there. UGC Additional Director and APA Focal Point Vishnu Mallick presided over the event.
Professor Dr Muhammad Alamgir said that Chittagong University under the leadership of its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abu Taher will move forward in all indicators and improve overall education.
CU Vice Chancellor said, “Through direct discussions in such workshops, many new ideas come out as well as solutions to many problems can be found. As a servant of the country, everyone has to achieve the desired goal by performing their assigned duties with the utmost honesty, transparency, devotion and responsibility.”
Focal point officers of various subjects including APA from 9 universities joined the workshop. The nine universities are- Chittagong University, Shahjalal Science and Technology University, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Comilla University, Rangamati Science and Technology University, Sylhet Agricultural University, and Chittagong Medical University. Focal point officials of UGC, officials of various universities and various focal point officials of CU APA were present.
