The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a warning letter to parents and students about taking admission to certain private universities. The UGC has highlighted the current status of various universities and advised interested candidates to collect information from the UGC website regarding admission.

According to the UGC, if someone is cheated by getting admission in an unauthorized campus of an unauthorized private university, in an unauthorized program, or in an approved program in excess of the seats allotted by the UGC, and subsequently any legal problem arises or the university is closed or the program is canceled, or the certificate is revoked by taking admission in more than the number of authorized seats, UGC will not take responsibility for it.

The UGC has identified three universities that are running illegal campuses and illegal education programs. These are Ibais University, America Bangladesh University, and The University of Comilla. In addition, Victoria University of Bangladesh has stopped the admission of new students until further instructions from UGC due to failure to transfer all programs, including education, to the permanent campus. The temporary permission of the Central University of Science and Technology in the capital has expired, and due to various other problems, the UGC has ordered

to stop the admission of new students in all the programs of this university.

The UGC has also stated that education programs are being conducted in 104 of the 114 approved private universities in the country. Of these, 74 have vice-chancellors appointed by the president, which means the remaining 30 universities do not have vice-chancellors appointed by the president.

In light of this information, parents and students are advised to exercise caution and gather all necessary information before taking admission in any private university.
