Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has received approval for three new departments. Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved three new departments of JUST. The three departments are: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Applied Statistics, and Humanities (non-degree).
According to university sources, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology under the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology, the Department of Applied Statistics under the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, and the Department of Humanities (non-degree) under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will be added.
As a result of the addition of these three new departments, the total number of departments at the university is 30.
JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said that students will be admitted from the academic year 2023–24 in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department among the three approved departments. The department already has been appointed Dr. Md. Alauddin, Assistant Professor of the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology, as the chairman of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department. Students will be admitted next year by recruiting manpower in the Applied Statistics department this year. We have gotten approval for the recruitment of these two departments. And teachers of common subjects like Bangladesh Studies will be appointed to the non-degree department. No student will be admitted to this department. This department will be under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
