Students of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) have taken a proactive step in advocating for public access to affordable medicines. The Ingenious Marketing Club of UAP organized a day-long awareness campaign titled “Advocating for Citizens’ Right to Affordable Medicines” on Sunday at the UAP Plaza, highlighting concerns over rising drug prices and limited access to essential healthcare in Bangladesh.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Advisor to the VC Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, and Prof. Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Dean of the School of Business. Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ahsan emphasized, “Access to affordable medicines is not just an economic issue; it is a fundamental right. I am proud that our students are taking proactive steps to highlight this concern and using their skills in marketing to create social impact.”
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 60 teams registering and more than 40 submitting creative ideas. Eight teams reached the final round, presenting their solutions through interactive stalls, presentations, and live demonstrations.
Dean Dr. Khalily praised the initiative, stating, “These students have proven that marketing is not only for profit-making but also for promoting values and social responsibility.”
The closing ceremony featured Architect Mahbuba Haque, Chairperson of the UAP Board of Trustees, as chief guest. She lauded the students for demonstrating leadership and empathy in addressing this pressing social issue. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams for their innovative ideas and social impact.
Over the years, the Ingenious Marketing Club has championed campaigns on social causes, reaffirming its commitment to using marketing as a tool for societal benefit.
