Two under-trial prisoners have died at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj near the capital.
Prisoner Sang Ma, 30, and Shamsad Ali Gullar, 32, died at Dhaka Central Jail.
Doctors pronounced Shamsad dead when he was brought at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 7:30am on Tuesday (Feb 13), while Prisoner Sang Ma died at about 2:00am on Tusday while he was undergoing treatment at the Department of Medicine of the hospital.
Dhaka Central Jail's senior jail super Suvash Kumar Ghosh said Prisoner Sang Ma, son of Jhonson Marak, hailed from village Bakakora under Jhenigati Police Station in Sherpur district. He lived at Dakkhin Khan Miapara in the capital.
He said Prisoner Sang Ma was sued in a human trafficking case at Uttara West Police Station on January 18 last. The case number is 13. He was admitted to the DMCH for medical treatment on February 13.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Medical College police camp in-charge Md Bacchu Mia said jail guards brought Shamsad Ali Gullar from the Dhaka Central Jail at the DMCH in the morning. Then the doctors concerned pronounced him dead after examining him.
He said Shamsad, son of Shawkat Ali, lived at Section No. 12 at Mirpur. However, it could not be known about his case.
