A court here Sunday awarded two accused death penalty and one life-term rigorous imprisonment in a murder case of Sonargaon upazila.
District additional judge court-4, Judge Mohammad Akrazzuaman pronounced the verdict in absence of all accused.
The court also fined the accused 1 lakh taka each, in default, they have to suffer six months more in jail. And the life-term awarded person was also fined Tk 50,000, in default, he has to suffer three months more in prison.
After examining nineteen testimonies, the court handed down the judgement.
Court Inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter to the media.
According to the prosecution, a man named Shadhon, son of Foyzul Haq, in Kandargaon village of Sonargaon was strangled on June 16, 2014 at Bhurbhuria village of the upazila.
Mother of deceased Joytunnessa had filed a murder case with Soanrgaon police station.
