A Chattogram court has sentenced two persons to death penalty for killing three members of a family in Biyazid Bostami area of the city 19 years ago.
Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court-1 Judge Kamal Hossain Sikdar delivered the verdict on Thursday in presence of the convicted persons. The court also fined the convicts Tk 2 lakh each.
The convicts are -- Abul Kashem and Yousuf, both of them hailed from Baluchara area under Biyazid Bostami Thana in the city.
According to the prosecution statement, the convicted persons shot to kill their neighbours Manowara Begum and her two brothers Alamgir and Saiful Islam over land dispute in Baluchara area of Chattogram at the night on June 29 in 2004.
The next day, Aysha Akter Shilpi, wife of the victim Saiful, filed a murder case with Biyazid Bostami police station against four people.
Later, the accused Gittu Nasir and Foiz Munna were killed by cross fire.
Police submitted a charge sheet on February 7, 2005 against two persons and the court framed charges against them on July 5, 2007.
