Two teachers of Comilla University (CoU) have received fellowship for special research grants from the Science and Technology program sector of the Ministry of National Science and Technology in the fiscal year 2023-24.

They are associate professors of the Department of Physical Sciences Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman and Associate Professor of Chemistry DepartmentDr.  Md. Abdul Majed Patwari. One of the fellowship recipients confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon. Earlier, on December 18, the matter was confirmed through a circular signed by Vidyut Chandra Aich, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

The teacher who got fellowship in engineering and applied science category is associate professor of chemistry department Dr. Md. Abdul Majed Patwari. Professor of the same department as his fellowship partner A. K. M. Raihan Uddin.

The teacher who got fellowship in physical science category is associate professor of Physics department Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman. Assistant Professor Kamrun Nahar Koli of the same department is his fellowship associate. Dr. Md. Abdul Majed Patwari will receive three lakh taka and Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman will get two and a half lakh taka.

Associate Professor of Chemistry Department Dr. Md. Abdul Majed Patwari said, “Development of silver-zinc oxide thin film devices for photocatalytic and photoanodic applications in the presence of silver (Ag) plasmonic stimuli – the project was accepted by the Ministry of Science and Technology. If this device is successfully built, it is believed that it will be possible to split water into hydrogen and oxygen in the presence of sunlight. Hydrogen is an excellent future fuel. Through projects like this, scientists on a large scale essentially find ways to solve energy problems.

Associate Professor of Physics Department Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman said, "These fellowships are available if you focus on research. Achieving such a fellowship will inspire you to do better work in the future. If everyone pays attention to research, Bangladesh will become a prosperous country.''

It is to be noted that from 1977-1978 financial year under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the program of giving special research grants for the research of this Science and Technology' project started.
